Time for changes

My boys have been sleeping together since Caden got out of his crib. At the house in Del Rio, they slept in a queen size bed. Since moving to Oklahoma a year ago they have been sleeping together in the top bunk of the bunk beds. I've mentioned seperating them many times but they never would go for it. Finally Friday night I had an idea. I'll let them pick out some new bedding and make a big deal about growing up and needing to be in their own beds. We went to Walmart and they each picked out new sheets and comforters to match their personalities. Connor being the serious, no frills boy went with solid blue (his favorite color). Caden the wild child, went with "soldier blankets" or camoflauge as most of it know it. Saturday we got them memory foam pillow tops for their mattresses as well. They are all fixed up now! After getting Caden's bed made he exclaimed "Oh it's so beautiful!" Lastnight was their 1st night in their own beds. I'd like to say it went perfectly but Caden ended up in bed with me at some point. I know eventually it will work out the way it's supposed too.

Here are the boys in their cool new beds....

Also, this weekend we rented "17 Again". It was a very cute movie. I give it 2 thumbs up. Check it out.

And on a completely different note....

Tomorrow morning I officially start back to college! I'm nervous and excited to get this going. My 1st 2 classes are:

1.Skills for the Learning in the Info Age
2.Survey of Computer Information Systems

Sounds exciting right?!

I'll keep ya posted on all things college related.

Let's hope for a great week!

My Weekend

Howdy!
Hope everyone had a good weekend. It's just about over though :o( Tomorrow starts the 1st full week of school for the boys. I will begin my workshop on Wed to get ready to go back to school.

I thought I'd write about my weekend. I had a really good one....

Friday night I met with 4 ladies from church (Kim, Christy, Amanda and Deanna) and went to see "Julie and Julia". It was such a cute movie. Honestly without the invite I probably would have never saw it. I'm so glad I did though. I give it 2 thumbs up. Afterwards we headed to Chili's to hang put and discuss the movie. So much fun!

Saturday night, Landon and I went to see a christian comedian do a show at our church. His name is Kenn Kington and he was hilarious! It felt so good to laugh for 2 hours. We bought his dvd and I'll be passing it around to share the joy. He mentioned he is currently working on a sitcom pilot. Afterwards I insisted on getting a picture taken with him. He was very personable and friendly. Check out his website for clips of his act.

Today, Sunday, I was able to watch a rented movie in peace. It was "Taking Chance" and it was such a great movie. I think everyone should see it. It will make you appreciate those fighting for our freedom even more. It was very eye opening to what happens to a soldier when they die. The respect that is paid to them all the way to grave is awesome and of course much deserved. Anyways, check this movie out.

So that was my weekend. Just wanted to share. Hope everyone has a great week this week. Take care!

1st day of school! Part 2

The boy's 1st day of school went very smoothly. Caden's day went very quickly. 2 hours and 20 minutes is not long at all. First thing he said when he got in the car was "You were right Mom! It was quick!" He was all smiles. Told me they "played and learned and stuff." I asked what he learned and he said "that Jesus died on the cross for our sins." Now that is very funny because that is the answer he gives us every Sunday as we are leaving church when we asked what he learned :o) I said" No you didn't!" He just laughed and said "Oh!" He is such a goober! I took him to Taco Bueno since it both of ours favorite place. We had a date :o) Afterwards he said "Thanks for everything Mom. Thanks for the food and picking me up from school, everything!" I told him thanks for being such a great date. He said "Oh it's a whole day date!" Tonight when he came in from playing he brought me "flowers" he pulled off a crepe mrytle and said "since we are on a date..." I love him so much!

Connor as usual didn't have a lot to say when he got home. He did have several friends from last year in his class. He has to be in just the right mood to want to tell about his day. We will probably hear more about it this weekend :o)

It was a good day. Here are more pics....cause ya know thats just what I do!

1st day of school!

Well the day has finally arrived. Both my boys are at school....weird! They didn't want to wake this morning but neither did I! Once they were dressed in their new "Houchin" t-shirts, they were all smiles and ready to go!

While getting dressed Caden put on his shorts and socks and said " Hey Mom, why don't we each do two things. I'll put my shorts and socks on and you put my shirt and shoes on OK?!" So while I was putting his shoes on him he said "We make a good team!" He's such a sweet boy :o)

Got to the school with the intention of escorting Connor to his class. Once we walked in and he saw a couple of his buddies he decided he was cool with them. He didn't need me to walk him in. Can't believe he is in 3rd grade already!

Caden lined up with his class in the cafeteria and quickly made a little friend. They chatted away and compared bruises :o) So cute! He was all smiles as the teacher walked them to the room.

Hope they have a "great, grand, wonderful day!"

Back to School Night

Well, we just got back from meeting the boys teachers and seeing their classrooms. I think it will be a great year for them both. I still can't believe my baby will be in Kindergarten. He is excited about it but on the way home asked "when will my last day of school be?" Landon laughed and said "when you are 18." His eyes got huge! I think the next few years are gonna be pretty interesting with that boy...lol!

Here are a few pics I snapped today...
